Foo Fighters have delighted fans with a preview of 11 new tracks on their website, ahead of a new album that seems closer than ever before.
Fans of the multi-Grammy-winning rock group are taken to an interactive homepage, which includes posters, stacks of CDs, clothes, instruments, and more.
Viewers can explore the room and, by clicking on various items, discover short bursts of previously unheard music that is likely to appear on the forthcoming album. Each snippet is around the 10-second mark.
There are several red herrings in the room, which means fans have to explore the page in order to uncover all 11 unique clips.
Many of the images used in the photos appear to be from recent recording sessions.
In some of the recordings, a female backing vocal can be heard; fans online have sleuthed that this could hint at the greater inclusion of Violet Grohl, Dave’s daughter and recently signed musician.
This cryptic marketing ploy comes not three weeks after frontman Dave Grohl confirmed that the new album is complete. He shared the news with a room of screaming fans in attendance at the opening night of their current Australian tour.
Foo Fighters’ latest releases included two new singles, ‘Today’s Song’ and ‘Asking for a Friend’, last year. They also put out the live album Are Playing Where??? Vol I exclusively via Bandcamp in October.
Foo Fighters have not released a full studio record since 2023’s But Here We Are. Far Out gave this record four stars, observing, “While it’s hard to call But Here We Are a classic Foo Fighters record, it’s definitely a record that should garner respect later as the band comb through their back pages to celebrate their own story of survival.”
This isn’t the first time an alternative act has used its website to leak its own music; last year, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams uploaded 16 songs to her website, which allowed fans to drag and drop, as well as engage with, the MP3s.
