ActorPrashant Narayanan, best known for his performances in films like Murder 2 and Ghost, has taken a sharp dig at Kartik Aaryan.
Speaking on a podcast, Prashant did not mince words, labelling Kartik Aaryan a “terrible” actor who, in his view, has been propped up by those around him. He went on to claim that Kartik’s continued presence in Bollywood is largely a result of sheer luck and the blessings of his parents, rather than merit alone.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble during a discussion on contemporary actors, Prashant Narayanan offered a blunt assessment of Kartik Aaryan and his journey in the industry. Questioning Kartik’s acting calibre, Prashant remarked, “I think he is one of the most terrible actors we have over here, but an extremely lucky person. He is only surviving because of his parents’ blessings. I feel that he is an extremely non-communicative and boosted by people around him kind of person.”
However, he also acknowledged enjoying Kartik’s debut performance, adding, “I liked him in the first film that he did (Pyaar Ka Punchnama).”
When the host questioned why Indian audiences continue to watch such actors and help turn their films into hits, Prashant Narayanan offered a nuanced response.
He suggested that it may not necessarily be admiration driving the numbers. “I don’t know how many people are appreciating them, but I have seen people laughing at them,” he said, adding that eliciting laughter still counts for something.
However, he drew a clear distinction, explaining, “There is a difference between when you are laughing with somebody and when you are laughing at somebody.” According to him, in many cases, Indian audiences fall into the latter category, noting, “The Indian audiences are mostly laughing at somebody.”

Several of his other releases struggled commercially, including his latest film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which failed to make an impact at the box office. On the critical front, however, Kartik did earn praise for his turn in Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan, who went so far as to say the actor deserved a National Award for the performance.
At present, Kartik is busy shooting Naagzilla, a supernatural thriller backed by Dharma Productions, with filming underway in Delhi.
