Adrianne Curry clinched the victory in the first cycle of the modeling competition back in 2003, earning the coveted title. Whilst ANTM was still in its early stages then, it eventually morphed into a cultural phenomenon.
Conceived by Tyra Banks, the show brought together aspiring models from various backgrounds, all vying for the esteemed ‘Next Top Model’ title. The champion landed a modeling contract with a top-tier agency, a feature in a fashion magazine, and profitable brand collaborations.
At the tender age of 20, Adrianne competed alongside New Yorker Ebony Haith, who gained internet fame through memes that continue to be shared among fans.

Yet a new wave of viewers has raised concerns about the show’s sometimes severe treatment of contestants and dated photoshoots, including one controversial challenge that featured race-swapping.
Netflix is set to explore what truly happened behind the scenes of the now-divisive program with a new documentary, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.
The three-part series features exclusive interviews with Banks, along with fan favorites Miss J. Alexander, Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker.
Past contestants also make appearances, although Adrianne claims she declined the invitation to participate.
Following the release of the documentary’s teaser, the model turned to X to express her stance on re-evaluating the program through a modern perspective.
Adrianne posted: “I am deeply grateful I won the first season of Top Model. I think people psychoanalyzing it over 20 years later with a woke lens is absurd.
“I don’t trust people to not manipulate things I say for TV, so I decline everything. Also, the public is cult-like and cruel, so the last thing I want is a bunch of eyeballs on me.
“I hope the other girls do not have their words twisted in their Netflix show.”
