If you were ever asked the question “What do you want to do with your life?” and responded without hesitation “I wanna rock!” Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp is waiting you.
This star-studded event will be held from April 23 to 26 in Miami and is designed to make aspiring rockers better, let them perform onstage with rock legends and let them live the dream. (The camp’s main packages are designed for experts, beginners and youth and start out at the bargain basement price of $7,000. Hey, glory isn’t cheap). That sum gets you four days of ‘training camp’ and includes two nights on stage.
No, you won’t learn proper stage diving techniques or how to escape a poorly designed stage prop. You will, however, meet rock and roll legends, learn from them and even jam with them onstage.
Before you scoff at the word “legends” and think of some B-lister, think again. The term “rock gods” might be more appropriate as the headliners for the Miami camp will include Sir Roger Daltrey and guitarist Simon Townshend (Pete’s brother) from The Who; Steve Morse, guitarist for Deep Purple and founder of the Dixie Dregs; and Simon Kirke, founder and drummer of both Bad Company and Free.
There will also be “rockstar counselors” including Tony Franklin from The Firm; guitar god Gary Hoey; Eva Gardner, bassist for Pink; Joel Hoekstra from Whitesnake; Vinny Apice of Black Sabbath; Derek St. Holmes, original lead singer for the Ted Nugent Band; Joe Vitale, a singer and songwriter who has worked with Joe Walsh and Stephen Stills; Britt Lightning musical director of Vixen and more.
Sir Roger Daltrey of iconic band The Who will be one of the rock legends at Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp which runs April 23 to 26 in Miami.
Before camp starts, participants will have their skills evaluated with the camp’s musical director. From there, they’ll be placed in bands with other participants of similar skill levels. Those bands will be assigned a rock star counselor who will mentor them all four days, prepare them to jam with the headliners, and play two live shows. During camp, bands will rehearse with counselors, and jam with musical legends in a high-energy, creative environment. Whether an experienced musician or just starting out, this immersive experience is designed to elevate skills and confidence.
Campers will stay at the Double Tree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center and multiple ballrooms at the facility will be turned in rehearsal rooms where, over the course of four days, you’ll jam, perform, and connect with some of the biggest names in rock.
The live performances will take place at two yet to be announced rock clubs in Miami.
As the line from the all-time classic Bad Company song goes: “It’s all part of my rock n’ roll fantasy, It’s all part of my rock n’ roll dream,” except for campers at Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp it’s actually reality.
