Robert Duvall’s death at age 95 was felt all over social media.
After the actor’s wife, Luciana, announced the news on Facebook Monday, many of his friends, fans and admirers took to social media to pay their respects to the Oscar-winning character actor.
Over on X, author Stephen King remembered Duvall’s iconic line from “Apocalypse Now,” while actor Adam Sandler said Duvall was “such a great man to talk to and laugh with.”
Others chimed in on X, including Duvall’s “Days Of Thunder” co-star Randy Quaid, who remembered one incident the actor had with director Tony Scott on the set of the 1990 Tom Cruise racing drama.
Other celebs went to Threads to honor Duvall, including actor Viola Davis, who noted that she “had the honor of working alongside” Duvall in 2018′s “Widows” and added, “I was in awe.”
Actor Jane Seymour said Duvall’s onscreen presence “carried honesty, weight, and grace” and that she was “thankful for the moments shared and for the artistry he gave the world.”
Actor Jamie Lee Curtis remembered Duvall’s role as Tom Hagen in “The Godfather” and praised him as “the greatest consigliere the screen has ever seen.”
Actor Josh Gad lamented the news by posting, “Another day. Another iconic and irreplaceable loss.”
Over on Instagram, actor Michael Keaton wrote, “another friend goes down” and remembered how he became friends with Duvall and “shared a great afternoon on my front porch talking about horses.”
Journalist Katie Couric praised Duvall’s acting and shared that “he lived in the same apartment as I did when I first moved to New York.”
Actor Walton Goggins posted a photo showing him and Duvall on the set of the 1997 film “The Apostle” and wrote, “The privilege of getting to work with this man, to know this man, is still the most important experience of my life.”
