While Andrew, 66, has always denied any wrongdoing or accusations against him, it is believed that the scandals have damaged both his reputation and that of the Royal Family.
This has reportedly left Prince William, who is first-in-line to the throne, “frustrated”.
A source told The Daily Mail: “William is frustrated because it’s still likely to be a problem on his plate when he eventually becomes King.
“I’m sure the Prince and Princess of Wales have been itching to say something publicly to distance themselves but they have to be cautious because of the police investigation.
“I think William and Catherine are acutely aware that this is a scandal that won’t be going away for a long time.”
An insider said that the prince made this revelation at the BAFTAs “on purpose” to show how he feels about recent matters impacting the monarchy.
Andrew has not been seen since he returned to his temporary Wood Farm home after his arrest on Thursday.
