Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrived in Jordan on Wednesday for their two-day tour of the Middle Eastern country.
Beginning their first international tour together in nearly two years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met children at a refugee camp in Amman as part of their work to highlight the efforts of those helping refugees flee war-torn countries.
The Sussexes visited the QuestScope Youth Centre at the Zaatari refugee camp, which provides Syrian families with semi-permanent accommodation, education, and a number of activities like sport, art, and music.
During their visit, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, immersed themselves in the activities and played a game of soccer with the children.
Showing off her skills on the astro-turf pitch, Meghan kicked the ball and scored a goal, unlike Harry, who was not able to dodge the young goalkeeper and get the ball into the back of the net.
Meghan’s soccer moment quickly drew comparisons to Princess Kate, who regularly joins in with sporting activities during her royal outings.
The Princess of Wales, 44, famously embraced her sporty side during a visit to a Northern Ireland rugby club in 2021.
One year later, she also showed off her skills by kicking a ball at Newmarket Racecourse in Cambridge, wearing a dress and heels nonetheless.
Meanwhile, soccer isn’t the only thing that caught royal fans’ attention on Wednesday.
Meghan wore light brown linen pants paired with a khaki T-shirt under a white shirt and suede boat shoes.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted that the Suits actress’ trousers were creased and jokingly questioned whether she had “forgotten to pack an iron”.
“Did you like Meghan’s creased trousers today? She must have forgotten to pack her freakish attention to detail as well as her iron,” one person joked on Twitter.
“Meghan is the Queen of creased linen,” said another.
“Good old linen, never fails!” added a third.
A fourth person attempted to shut down naysayers, saying: “The purpose of the visit is more important.”
For the remainder of their trip, the Sussexes are scheduled to meet Jordan’s leaders, senior health officials, and see how Archewell-funded initiatives have helped to evacuate children from the war in Gaza.
This is Harry and Meghan’s first joint international tour since their four-day trip to Colombia in August 2024.
It is not an official royal tour, but a spokesperson confirmed Buckingham Palace was informed in advance.
