Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has no doubt had a very difficult few weeks, but it seems that some people are laughing at his expense. Over the last few months, the former prince has seen his reputation sink lower than ever before after Epstein’s files show just how close his friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was.
Although it is unlikely he will be removed from the line of succession soon, especially while the police investigation is underway, it seems that many are keen for this to happen.
This was made clear at the 2026 BRITS, which saw crowds cheer as a joke was made at Andrew’s expense.
Host Jack Whitehall, when introducing James Blunt and Maya Jama to the stage to announce the winner of the Artist of the Year category, joked that James was “the only man posher than me at the Brits”.
As reported by Hello! Magazine, he then quipped that James “was about 30th in line to the throne… might be 29th soon”.

The Royal Family has not commented on the matter, with King Charles issuing only one statement on the day Andrew was arrested.
The King wrote: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R.”
