Harry Styles shares private hack for escaping fan interactions
Harry Styles revealed an unusual tactic he uses when he isn’t in the mood to interact with fans, helping him maintain a sense of normalcy amid his busy schedule.
In an interview for the cover story of Runner’s World with fellow marathoner Haruki Murakami, published on March 3, the 32-year-old singer reflected on the significance running holds, including how it helps him bypass awkward encounters.
“The main thing is that you’re always moving. You can turn a corner wherever,” Styles shared. “I think with people who see me, it’s a bit more, ‘Was that…’ rather than, ‘Oh look, it’s him!’ And by that time, you’re already gone.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about how running plays an integral role in helping him process his emotions when the world feels too loud.
“In some of those new experiences, there’s just so much stimulation, right? So many people, and it’s just so loud. So then running also became my processing place for all of that. Really being by myself,” Styles said.
Moreover, he explained that running is the polar opposite of recording music for him.
“There are a lot of people who help me make music, put the music out, put on a show and make me look good at it! But running is a conversation with myself,” the Aperture hitmaker admitted.
Styles also pointed out how running has brought discipline and self integrity into his life, adding that it pushed him to keep going even when he doesn’t feel like it, noting that “no one can run a marathon for you.”

In September 2025, the One Direction alum achieved his personal best at the Berlin-based Marathon, completing the 26.2-mile race in 2:59:13.
He had previously finished the Tokyo Marathon last March in 3:24:07.

Styles will release his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally on Friday, March 6, featuring 12 tracks.
He will also appear on Saturday Night Live on March 14 as both host and musical guest, marking his first dual role on the show since November 2019.
Additionally, Styles will kick off his 2026 global residency tour, Together, Together, spanning 50 shows in seven cities between May and December.
