The 98th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place next week as some of Hollywood’s biggest stars gear up to find out if their hard work has paid off.
The ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. After last year’s ceremony was dedicated to the LA wildfires, the prestigious annual awards are back to recognize artistic and technical excellence in the film industry.
In 2025, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who live in Los Angeles, volunteered to assist those affected by the tragic fires, sparking speculation they would make an appearance on the Oscars’ red carpet to demonstrate their support for the cause and the artistic community after their venture into streaming.
The couple has not confirmed whether they will attend the Oscars. Speculation began last year that they would attend after Meghan’s close friend, Misan Harriman, received a nomination for his short film The After at the 96th Academy Awards in January 2024.
They ultimately did not attend the ceremony, and as a result, author Tom Bower, who wrote the book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, said they also skipped Elton John’s Oscar party the same year.
He called them “nobodies in Hollywood,” despite the fact that they had been invited to the bash in 2025.
Both ex-royals have ventured into the entertainment industry with recent Netflix projects. Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, premiered on March 4, 2025, and she went on to drop another season this year, as well as a Christmas special.

They’ve previously secured a nearly $100 million contract with Netflix, but this has since come to an end.
Neither of Meghan and Harry’s projects was nominated for an Oscar because the Academy’s rules for qualifying are strictly for theatrical, feature-length films.
