Following its return in 2025 after a nearly three-year hiatus, the 52nd American Music Awards are heading back to Las Vegas to be broadcast live from a new venue, the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Like last year, Dick Clark Productions and CBS are bringing back the AMAs on Memorial Day, May 25, and will air the event live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. The ceremony will also be streamed and made available on demand by Paramount+.
Nominations for this year’s AMAs will be announced on April 14. That same day, fans can begin voting for their favorite artists and music until the window closes on May 8. Additional details, including performers, presenters and ticket on-sale, will be announced in the coming weeks.
In 2025, the AMAs staged its first live ceremony since 2022, when they aired in the fall from Los Angeles on ABC. The 2022 show had a 0.6 rating among adults in the key 18-49 demographic and 3.53 million total viewers, a record low for AMAs viewership. But it made an impressive comeback last year, averaging 5.2 million viewers for its largest performance since 2019.
During the event, hosted by Jennifer Lopez at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Billie Eilish was the night’s big winner with a sweep in all seven nominated categories, while Beyoncé, Bad Bunny and Eminem took home two awards apiece.
Last August, CBS announced that it would be extending its partnership with Dick Clark Productions via a new five-year deal to keep the AMAs on the network and Paramount+ starting in 2026.
The AMAs were created by Dick Clark for ABC in 1974 after the network lost its deal to broadcast the Grammys to CBS. The AMAs originally aired in January or February until the switch to the Thanksgiving season from 2003-2022.
