LOS ANGELES — Happy Oscars Sunday to all who celebrate.

It has been another great year in filmmaking, and the only thing tighter than some of the Oscar races this year has been security for the 98th Academy Awards.

The unusually heavy security has been ramped up amid the ongoing Middle East war and concerns about retaliatory strikes by Iran. There have been no specific threats against the Oscars on Sunday, and last week, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state has been working collaboratively with local law enforcement agencies and emergency services to ensure vital information is transmitted to keep communities safe.

The Los Angeles Police Department has set up a roughly one-mile security perimeter around the Dolby Theatre that includes uniformed officers, security cameras, K-9 units, and even surveillance drones.

For now, all is calm, and all is bright as heading into Hollywood’s biggest night.

What can we expect at this year’s ceremony?

No awards show is complete without a musical performance, and lucky for us, we have been promised two live performances inspired by the films “Sinners” and “KPop Demon Hunters.”

Sunday night’s show also promises to give us reunion galore. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor will reportedly appear together during the ceremony ahead of the 25th anniversary of “Moulin Rouge.”

One of the most highly expected reunions of the night will be the cast of “Bridesmaids.” Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Maya Rudolph will come together to celebrate the film’s 15-year anniversary.

Could we also see a “The Devil Wears Prada” reunion? Only time will tell.

The ceremony is also expected to include a celebration of the life of actor/writer/director Rob Reiner, who was killed along with his wife in their Brentwood home, allegedly by their 32-year-old son, Nick. The killings occurred hours after the trio attended a holiday party at the home of comedian Conan O’Brien — who is hosting the Oscar ceremony for the second straight year.

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan — who co-starred in Reiner’s smash-hit romance “When Harry Met Sally” — are expected to be among those taking to the Oscar stage to pay tribute to the late director.

The Oscars will begin at 4 p.m. PT/ 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu.
