Meghan Markle would randomly “disappear” during meetings with Netflix in what’s been described as a “childish reaction” from her and allegedly had “odd methods” of providing feedback to the streamer, a scathing new report has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex struck a deal with Netflix in 2020 when they quit the Royal Family.
However, last year the streaming giant downgraded its deal to a “first-look” one, which is vastly different from its first lucrative one, reportedly worth around £75million. A new bombshell cover story by US outlet Variety brings fresh insight into the Sussexes’ partnership with Netflix.
It alleges that three sources claimed that Meghan had “odd methods of providing feedback”.
She would first “disappear” for long periods during Zoom calls and later Netflix teams, like the marketing department, would be informed that her absence was “due to her being offended by something that was said”.
Meghan’s lawyer, Michael J. Kump, dismissed the claims and told the outlet that the Duchess “works from home, is the mother of young children aged 4 and 6, and often encounters (as many parents who work from home do) children who enter the space unexpectedly during a meeting.
“Independent of being a parent who works from home, Meghan is also conscious of shielding her team from the distraction of children.
“Nearly all professionals can attest to needing to turn off the audio or camera during a virtual meeting at some point during many hours of virtual business calls.”
But the couple’s lawyer said the claim “seems calculated to play into the misogynistic characterisation of her bossing her husband around”.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is said to “attest” the claim, saying it’s “categorically false”.
