JUNO Award-nominated and chart-topping Canadian country artist Tyler Joe Miller, who has amassed more than 80 million global streams to date, released his latest single, “Under The Influence,” through The Orchard/Sony Music Canada today.
Written by Gordie Sampson, Kelly Archer, Dylan Guthro and Dave Sampson, and produced by Nashville hitmaker Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne, Brett Young) and Dylan Guthro (Walker Hayes, BANNERS, Jimmie Allen), the track captures the emotional push and pull of trying to move on from someone while knowing how easily old feelings can resurface. When Miller first heard the song, he immediately connected with its honest portrayal of heartbreak and the inner battle between wanting to move forward and finding yourself right back in those familiar thoughts after a few drinks.

“‘Under The Influence’ is a song about the inner battle going on when you’re trying to get over someone. It’s about wanting to get back to normal and go out and have a good time, but putting up guard rails at the same time, so you don’t get sucked back into that cycle of wanting them after a few drinks. Just when you think that sober you is over them, sometimes drunk you just isn’t.”
The release follows the recent announcement of the British Columbia Country Music Awards nominations, where Miller earned two nods: Entertainer of the Year and Top Performing Single of the Year for “Doin’ What She Does.” The track reached the Top 10 at Canadian country radio, marking Miller’s tenth Top 10 hit. After spending time in Nashville writing and shaping the next chapter of his music, Miller is preparing to share more new material throughout the year. He will also take the stage at several major festivals this summer, including Boots and Hearts West, Sunfest, South Mountain Fair, and more.
