Your late teens and early twenties can be one of the most confusing, lonely times for anyone, even if you’re finally stepping into the identity and career you’ve always dreamed of. Hudson Ingram offers a beautiful keepsake of that time with ‘Linger,’ a sentimental new single that sees him reflecting on his teen years and the people that made them so special before he left his hometown to chase his musical dreams in Nashville. At 19, he’s in that bittersweet spot between playful teenager and pensive adult, and he’s capturing the magic of that melancholic nostalgia in such a moving way.
Each lyric on ‘Linger’ feels so vulnerably specific, bringing up flashbacks of stargazing, bonfires, and awkward catch-ups with people you used to talk to all the time. They’re curated to his unique experiences and memories, but bring up universal feelings of togetherness and being torn apart that you’ll definitely find ways to relate to.
The visuals in the song’s lyric video are just as thoughtful, with Hudson singing on a set of bleachers in the dark before driving off in a truck. He’s surrounded by the comfort of high school scenery, but this time, alone rather than with his friends or classmates, much like how he can go back to his favorite memories mentally but not physically, without the people who made them memorable to begin with.
In the months before writing this song, I spent a lot of time in my head about things that weren’t in my life anymore, people who I had parted ways, and time periods in my life that I had left behind. I had just graduated high school and my life took a turn in a very quick and specific way, and I found that the only way I could manage this feeling of chaos was to be present in the moment, taking things at face value and enjoying them while they’re there. Naturally, I think as you progress in life, things come and go — I wrote ‘Linger’ as a reminder to not let those things pass by right in front of you.

That’s a pretty high bar to set, but he’s definitely capable of reaching it! With help from Aaron, Hudson consistently delivers stunning stories and warm atmospheres that pull you right in.
Between ‘Linger’ and his previous single, January’s ‘Baby Just Be,’ 2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Hudson! If you’re in Vancouver, Seattle, Spokane, Denver, or Minneapolis, you might be able to catch him at one of his remaining shows opening for Steinza in March. But if not, don’t sweat it, because he’ll be hitting the road across the U.S. with brenn! through April and May!
