CBS Dropped a Bombshell About ‘Marshals—and Fans Can't Hold Back

New episodes of the latest Yellowstone spinoff series, Marshals, air every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Fans were shocked to discover that CBS renewed Marshals for season 2 after just two episodes.

Marshals isn’t the only Yellowstone spinoff that’s set to air in 2026.

It’s official, Yellowstone fans: we’ll be spending more time with Kayce Dutton.

Ever since Marshals first premiered on CBS earlier in March, viewers of the original Yellowstone series were thrilled to see Kayce (played by Luke Grimes) back on TV. This time, though, Kayce has moved to the heart of Texas, where he navigates personal tragedies while being a U.S. marshal.

Couple that with the return of familiar faces (like Breckin Merrill as Tate Dutton, Mo Brings Plenty as Mo, and Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater), along with some new characters (like Logan Marshall-Green as Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Pete Calvin and Arielle Kebbel as Deputy U.S. Marshal Belle Skinner), and people can’t get enough of what else is in store for the former rancher.

Even though only four episodes have aired so far, CBS has already determined the fate of the future of Marshals. Fans learned in an unexpected Instagram announcement on March 12 that Marshals had been renewed for season 2 on CBS.

“Thank you to the over 20 MILLION of you who watched the premiere of #MarshalsCBS!” the caption read at the time. “It’s official— we’re getting a Season 2!”

Naturally, fans couldn’t hold in their excitement.

“Huge congrats to all involved!!! 🔥🔥🔥,” one person shouted in the comments. “Can’t be more excited 😍 for a second season,” another agreed. “I am obsessed already. Congrats to the entire team! Thank you for bringing Kayce back, allowing him to be the same Kayce, only a new beginning.❤️❤️❤️,” a different follower added.

Now, for those wondering what may have caused CBS to renew Marshals so quickly, Deadline reported that the series premiere became “the most-watched network original series premiere without a football lead” since the premiere of The Big Bang Theory spinoff, Young Sheldon, debuted back in 2017.

Additionally, the outlet noted that the show drew 9.52M viewers the day of the premiere, with the numbers growing over seven days to a total of 20.6M multiplatform viewers. Meaning: it makes total sense that CBS would want to secure more episodes for Marshals!

Longtime loyalists of the Yellowstone franchise know that this isn’t the only sequel series the franchise is debuting this year. Cole Hauser (who played Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone) teased that his spinoff, Dutton Ranch, will premiere soon on Paramount+.

Congrats to the Marshals team, and we’re ready to sit down for more episodes!
