Kelly Clarkson went country for her latest “Kellyoke” cover on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The TV host sang a version of “Lesson in Leavin’” by Jo Dee Messina for the March 16 taping of the NBC daytime series.
Fans are asking Kelly to put out a country music album.
Kelly Clarkson just went a little bit country on The Kelly Clarkson Show … and fans have some questions for her about it.
For the last seven years, fans have tuned in to the NBC daytime series to see Kelly interview top stars, but they also adore seeing Kelly perform her “Kellyoke” covers, where she puts her own spin on songs she loves.
So, when it came to the March 16 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fans were wondering what tune Kelly would sing for the audience in-studio and at home. She decided to go a little country with her version of “Lesson in Leavin’” by Jo Dee Messina (which was, coincidentally, a 1999 cover of the track of the same name from Dottie West).
Once Kelly’s version of “Lesson in Leavin’” started circulating on Instagram, Jo Dee herself had to share her thoughts.
“WAHOOOOOO!!!!! Go girl!!!!! I LOVE it 😃💜💜💜,” she replied.
Fans adored seeing Kelly step into her southern Texas roots by bringing country music to The Kelly Clarkson Show. In fact, seeing this cover had many wondering about how country songs could fit into Kelly’s own music career.
“Okay … time for a country album!! 🤠🤞🏻,” one person begged in the comments.
“I want a Kelly Clarkson country album NOW! 👏 Please,” another agreed.
“Still holding out for a country album, Kelly 🤞,” a different follower added.
This isn’t the only time Kelly opted for a country song on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She’s performed a variety of tracks by country singers over the years, including Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, andKeith Urban, among others. We can only imagine which country artist she’ll choose to cover next.
