Newcastle band, HMRC, have just released their newest track Adenosine, it’s punk, loud, and rebellious.
HMRC say ‘protest music is dead – we’re here to change that’, which is something this generation needs! The band are mostly inspired by the political state of the country, and want to speak up about the problems we are all facing due to the government. Their music has that post-punk edge to it, which is very prominent throughout their songs.
Adenosine has a lot of grainy guitar, aggressive percussion, intense vocals, and a bassline that’s not hard to miss. Every instrument in this song is prominent. There’s never a moment where you’re searching or waiting for the next instrument to come in. It is such an original track and I am absolutely in love with it.
As soon as the track starts, we are greeted with this catchy intro – it sets the tone for the song, upbeat and energetic. It reminds me of The Fall – Mr Pharmacist, it has such a post-punk feel to the song and its very lively. The vocals swiftly come in with Lloyd (vocalist) not hesitating to make his presence known. The whole sound is loud and rowdy, so why on earth wouldn’t Lloyd use his voice in the same way? The vocals fit the song so wholly. It is a proper punk track and I can’t get enough of it.
I would say if you haven’t heard this band before, get to know them. They’re the edgy-punk band that we all need in our lives. To say they have less than 500 follows on social media is baffling too! So, what you waiting for? Get listening to HMRC now! You will NOT regret it, especially if you love anything post-punk/punk!
