Rap legend Master P recently revealed that he turned down a massive Super Bowl commercial payday.
While speaking to TMZ, the rapper shared the key reason why he turned down the $10 million commercial deal.
“Somebody wanted me to do a Super Bowl commercial – I ain’t gonna say no names. It’s an insurance company,” he explained. “But it’s big, and it’s like, ‘We want you to be a rapper. We want you to rap in a commercial.”
However, the request didn’t sit too well with Master P. “I’m like, ‘I’mm ot rapping in a commercial,’” he declared. “Like, Kevin Hart is not doing stand-up comedy for Chase on the commercial, so I’m like, ‘Sometimes, you gotta turn down…all money ain’t good money.’”
The music icon further pointed out that while he can still rap. However, he doesn’t want people to stereotype him. He also wanted to inspire younger entertainers by showing they do not always have to take publicity deals.
Master P Was Heavily Involved in the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show
This isn’t the first time Master P has been asked to participate in the Super Bowl. The rapper was heavily involved in the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in 2025.
Former New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell notably appointed Master P to be the city’s entertainment ambassador for Super Bowl LIX.
At the time, Cantrell said that Master P, a New Orleans native, was selected for the role due to his ability to connect the city to more special events and opportunities.
As an ambassador, Master P launched the “Hollywood South Collaborative,” described as “master-class environments” designed to mentor and teach entertainment business skills.
“We are doing this through film, television, and entertainment,” he said. “But we are also doing this through business because I want people to see what I was able to grow.”
Master P then noted, “I grew up in the projects in New Orleans and was able to change my life and educate myself. Get out there to see more. And I want more for the city of New Orleans.”
“He’s deserving of all the love, all the praise,” Cantrell said about Master P. “For demonstrating the resiliency of this community and that there’s no limit to accomplishing great things for the city of New Orleans.”
