Chart-topping singer/songwriter, Noah Kahan steps into PS 15 on the Lower East Side of New York City to teach students the art of storytelling through music. This episode of Celebrity Substitute blends songwriting, vulnerability, and creativity into an unforgettable classroom experience.
Noah introduces the students to the power of storytelling, breaking down how personal experiences can be transformed into lyrics that connect with audiences. Through conversation and examples from his own life, he shows how honesty, emotion, and detail are the building blocks of a great song.
The lesson takes a special turn when Noah treats the class to an intimate live performance of his hit song “Stick Season” and gives them a taste of the personal story that inspired it.
Then, with Noah’s guidance, the students reimagine his new song “Deny Deny Deny” by rewriting the lyrics to reflect their own stories. What starts as a songwriting exercise quickly becomes a full creative collaboration.
The episode culminates in a show-stopping finale as the students take the stage in their newly refurbished performance auditorium, performing their original version of “Deny Deny Deny” for their teachers.
