A report by Page Six suggests that after Prince Harry exited royal life along with his wife, Meghan Markle, things allegedly changed between him and Queen Elizabeth II. This was mainly for their appearance in the Oprah Winfrey interview. During the session, the duo directed much of the criticism at the royal family.
Hugo Vickers is a longtime friend of the royal family. He made several revelations in his new book titled “Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History.” The author wrote that the late monarch refused to speak to her grandson without a witness. He noted, “Whenever Prince Harry called his grandmother, she asked her lady-in-waiting to stay with her.”
The book further claimed that “the distress the Sussexes caused the Queen in the last years of her life cannot be overestimated.”
The various claims made by the Sussexes about not receiving enough support from the palace allegedly hurt the late monarch. Vickers also mentioned that Harry and Markle brought their daughter, Princess Lilibet, to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022 for the Queen to meet her. However, the Queen reportedly refused to see them without a witness.
The author said, “Prince Harry was at [his then-residence] Frogmore Cottage with his wife and two children, the gate adorned with balloons to celebrate baby Lilibet’s first birthday. They visited the Queen with the children, again with a lady-in-waiting present.”
