Just ahead of his latest “Saturday Night Live” appearance, Jack White has released a pair of streaming singles, with limited-edition vinyl editions on the way.
With the two songs, the Detroit-born musician — who will be part of a cleverly booked Jack White-Jack Black “SNL” lineup on April 4 (11:30 p.m., NBC) — has rolled out his first new music since the album “No Name.”
White’s “SNL” appearance will be his sixth on the NBC-TV show, going back to a 2002 performance with the White Stripes. White was also a major part of the program’s 50th anniversary concert last year.
“G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” sounds like an extension of that 2024 record, while its flip side, “Derecho Demonico,” is a fuzz-guitar workout that harks back to White’s earlier days.
Both tracks will be available on both color and black vinyl starting Saturday (April 4) at White’s Third Man Records stores in Detroit, Nashville and London before hitting other record retailers next week.
The buzz machine is heating up as the Detroit rocker gears up for a busy summer of touring: He also has been booked for a Monday slot on the CBS-TV late-night show hosted by his old friend Stephen Colbert.
