Tzruya “Suki” Lahav, a member of the E Street Band in the mid-1970s, has died.

She was 74.

Her son, Yonatan Lahav, said in a Facebook post that she had been battling cancer.

Variety reported that it was Lahav’s violin that can be heard on Bruce Springsteen’s “Jungleland” track which closes out the “Born to Run” album.

She also sang on two Springsteen tracks — “The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle,” and 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)” — according to Variety.

The Springsteen Center issued a statement following her death.

“Suki Lahav, the Israeli-born musician, lyricist, and poet who briefly joined the E Street Band in the mid-1970s, has passed away at the age of 74,” it read. “A violinist on Born to Run — most notably heard on ‘Jungeland’ — she contributed to the early sound of Bruce Springsteen’s breakthrough era. Lahav went on to become a major figure in Israeli music and literature, leaving behind a lasting legacy as both a songwriter and a poet.”

Fans were quick to send condolences and love.

“We shall always cherish those moments on the recordings,” one person replied.

“May she rock in peace,” another wrote.

“And so fantastic in New York’s city serenade!!!” another wrote.

“Her part in Jungeland is epic,” another replied.

There were plenty more comments like that and you can see them all here.

Variety reported that Lahav played the violin for Springsteen in 38 concerts prior to “Born to Run” being released. The outlet said she is also known for contributing to a cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Want You” that was popular for decades.
