After two years in which they skipped the royal family’s traditional Easter Sunday services, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their children have returned to the fold. On Sunday, the Walses joined King Charles III and Queen Camilla at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, even leading the procession to the church.
And this year, the family seemed to coordinate their look, not unlike the couple’s matching fits at the BAFTAs. Kate Middleton, who traditionally opts for shades of blue on Easter, donned an elegant cream ensemble similar to the the long coat she wore to services in 2017. A matching hat, cross necklace, and pearl drop earrings completed the look, complemented by a bag from DeMellier London.
Princess Charlotte joined her mother’s neutral palette with a beige wool coat from Catherine Walker, one of Princess Cate’s favorite dressmakers. Royal watchers might recognize the topper, which Charlotte also wore last December to Christmas mass at Sandringham. Beside them stood Prince William and eldest son Prince George, who has grown nearly as tall as his parents. Prince Louis was close by, dressed in a businesslike suit and tie.
Princess Anne, accompanied by husband Timothy Laurence, was seen in deep conversation with her brother Prince Edward, who came with his son James. Peter Phillips, the Princess Royal’s son, came with his fiancée Harriet Sperling. As announced last week, the couple will tie the knot on June 6.
Not in attendance this year were Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, or their children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, a likely result of the ongoing allegations Andrew has faced. (Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has denied all claims of wrongdoing.) Also absent: Edward’s wife Sophie and Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, as well as her husband, Mike.
