Georgia changing state flower
Georgia is changing its state flower from the non-native Cherokee Rose to the native Sweetbay Magnolia, a move supported by the Georgia Native Plant Society.
THURSDAY, APRIL 9
Eastern Wharf, a mixed-use neighborhood overlooking the Savannah River, launched Food Truck Thursdays last week on April 2. Every Thursday until April 30, the community hosts multiple food trucks every Thursday evening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m, which is free to the public.
In addition to regularly scheduled food truck the Savannah Sunset Market will be on-site on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, featuring up to 20 vendors offering fresh and prepared foods, live music and more, according to a press release.

Fort Pulaski Bombardment Anniversary
Commemorate the 1862 bombardment of Fort Pulaski with live cannon demonstrations and ranger-led talks explaining how the attack changed military history. Standard park admission applies; demonstrations are subject to weather and staffing conditions. This event lasts until April 11, and each demonstration lasts for 30 minutes.

Abundance art opening
This opening reception showcases “abundance,” a curated series of nature photography by husband-and-wife artists Anna Bliss and Steve Bliss. The exhibition explores the connection between organic landscapes and still life. The exhibition runs through May 5, with proceeds benefiting Migrant Equity Southeast, supporting immigrant and refugee communities across South Georgia.
