There are certain things that will live forever in Royals lore.
George Brett’s titanic home run off Goose Gossage in the 1980 American League Championship Series is one. Eric Hosmer’s mad dash home in Game 5 of the 2015 World Series is another. And then there was that Krispy Kreme promotion.
From 2003 to 2006, Royals fans could get a free dozen Krispy Kreme donuts the day after the team had 12 hits or more in a game.
There’s a new promotion this season that promises free food to Royals fans, although there is a stipulation.
If the Royals score six runs or more during a game at Kauffman Stadium, members of the Hawaiian Bros loyalty program will get a free classic plate lunch the following day.
A Reddit user shared a look at the fine print of the promotion on their app.
“Restrictions apply. Plates for plates reward valid next day only at participating locations in MO, KS, NE, IA and AR. Not valid at Kauffman Stadium. Must be signed up for HB Rewards with a participating location selected as a favorite location. Reward typically added to account midday the day following a qualifying game.”
It’s said there’s no such thing as a free lunch? Well, there is if the Royals score 6 runs in a home game.
