Blue Jays fans want new walk-up music for Daulton Varsho

Toronto fans feel that outfielder’s use of Ordinary by Alex Warren as at-bat intro music doesn’t fit struggling team’s vibe

Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays are hoping that one simple change could help the team be a bit more than ordinary after opening the season in a slump.

According to an online petition, many fans feel that if outfielder Daulton Varsho changes his at-bat walk-up song – Ordinary by Alex Warren – it would help spark the struggling team.

The petition was launched on Change.org on Tuesday night by a user named Skye Domie. In just over 12 hours, the page titled “Change Varsho’s Walk-Up Song to Save the Season” had already garnered a couple hundred signatures.

“The Blue Jays season is off to a rough start. One song might be behind all the problems — Daulton Varsho’s walk-up song, Ordinary,” the petition says. “It simply does not have the right vibe for #BlueJays50 and our return to the World Series.”

What are fans saying?

“Good song for walking in the rain crying about this season; bad song to lock in before an at bat with (Dodgers ace Yoshinobu) Yamamoto tossing heat,” one fan wrote.

“I feel like a deflated balloon when I hear that song come on,” another posted.

“This song is about as exciting as the breakfast hour at an old folks home. Gotta switch it up,” a third wrote.

One user on Reddit posted about how he felt the team’s momentum come to a halt on Tuesday night when Ordinary played at the Rogers Centre.

“Springer hit his RBI double last night to bring us within 2, place was going bananas on 77 cent dog night, hype music blaring, then all the momentum screeched to a halt because of this terrible walk-up song,” they wrote.

How has Varsho been playing?

Varsho is among many members of the Blue Jays lineup to start the season off slowly.

Heading into Wednesday’s matinee game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Varsho had just six hits in 40 at-bats for a batting average of .171. He had two doubles, one RBI and had yet to hit a home run in 2026.

Last season, the defensive outfield dynamo also excelled at the plate, hitting 20 home runs in 71 games along with a .238 batting average, his best as a member of the Jays.

For what it’s worth, Varsho also used the hit song during the 2025 season and the team’s playoff run to within a few outs of winning the World Series.

During the 2024 season, Varsho used a custom-made country song called Bottle Rocket, which was created in collaboration with singer-songwriter Chris Hennessee, for his walk-up music.
