The Grand on State has begun its soft opening this April, offering live jazz performances and a curated dining experience from Thursday through Saturday in downtown Santa Barbara.

Situated next to the Granada Theatre on State Street, The Grand aims to combine live jazz performances with fine dining in an intimate downtown setting.

The venue blends music, food, and ambiance, providing guests with a relaxed yet upscale dining experience.

According to the restaurant’s website, The Grand plans a full opening in May 2026.

As part of its soft opening, The Grand is hosting special opening night on Thursday, April 9, featuring live jazz performances and interactive experiences, according to its website.

The Grand will host three nights of live jazz from April 9-11, featuring local vocalists and instrumentalists in an intimate downtown setting.

During the soft opening, The Grand’s live jazz performances are scheduled from Thursday, April 9, through Saturday, April 11. On Thursday, doors opened at 6 p.m., with music running from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, doors open at 6:30 p.m., with performances from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The venue’s concept, developed by Jenna Berg and musician Brian Mann, centers on a grand piano as the focal point of the space. The layout is designed to support evenings of live jazz, cocktails, and a rotating menu of small plates, according to local sources.

The Grand positions itself as a jazz and dining destination that balances comfort with elegance, catering to both casual diners and post-theater visitors seeking live entertainment.

Located at 1218 State Street, the space has previously been home to Namaste Indian Bistro, Bedda Mia, and Tupelo Junction Cafe.

The venue’s latest transformation emphasizes music-driven hospitality in downtown Santa Barbara. General admission is $20 per guest on a first-come, first-served basis, while reserved seating costs $40 per guest.

The Grand also accepts private event bookings, providing additional flexibility for visitors.
