The Arizona House passed a bill that would put restrictions on flying drones near large entertainment events.
The bill would make it a class one misdemeanor to intentionally fly a drone within a mile of events at venues with a capacity of at least 1,000 people.
For reference, the Van Buren concert hall in downtown Phoenix has a listed capacity of 1,800.
The measure provides exemptions for people who get the OK from event authorities, those flying drones on their own property and utility and telecommunications companies.
While proponents have said it will help prevent spying and make events safer, those opposed say there are similar drone restrictions already in place.
The measure goes back to the Senate.
