Prince William might be secretly “ruthless” outside of the public eye, but apparently he did offer his uncle, former Prince Andrew, some “condolences” before being essentially erased from the British monarchy due to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman revealed in his book, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story, that William called Andrew after his titles were removed last year.
“Some accounts suggested that he was the driving force behind his Uncle Andrew being stripped of his titles and honours and banished to a house on the Sandringham estate,” Hardman wrote, per Marie Claire. “One friend of the former Yorks, however, reported that on the night they lost their titles, Andrew had been very touched when Prince William was one of the few people to call to offer condolences.”
As we know, Prince William is a staunch supporter of the crown, and ultimately did not plan on getting in the way of King Charles’s actions. In Royal editor Russell Myers’s biography, William and Catherine, he revealed that William “was consulted” about Andrew’s title removal but allow it to go through because he “would not seek to demand anything of the monarch as he trusts his final judgement.”
The excerpts paint somewhat of a different image of William, who was recently billed as “ruthless” by a source at Rob Shuter.
