Cate Blanchett is set to play Martha Stewart in an upcoming biopic.

The project will be helmed by Zola director Janicza Bravo, according to Variety. Lifestyle mogul Stewart, 84, spoke to the outlet about the biopic at the gala screening of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary, a documentary about the Italian fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli, in New York City on Tuesday, April 14.

Stewart told Variety she was “hearing rumors” that a biopic was in the works with Blanchett, 56, in the leading role. She also revealed that the working title is Good Thing, a nod to her signature catchphrase, “It’s a good thing.”

PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for Blanchett for comment.

The actress’ most recent movie was the comedy-drama anthology Father Mother Sister Brother, in which she played the daughter of an elderly writer, but among her most noted roles are portrayals of real-life characters.

Her turn as Queen Elizabeth I in 1998’s Elizabeth helped propel the Australian actress to international fame, while she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress after playing Katharine Hepburn in 2004’s The Aviator.

She also played Jude Quinn, one iteration of Bob Dylan, in the 2007 musical drama I’m Not There.

As for Stewart, the businesswoman was the subject of the Netflix documentary Martha in 2024 — something she had mixed views on. “I love the first half,” she told The New York Times, but called the second half “a bit lazy,” explaining: “Those last scenes with me looking like a lonely old lady walking hunched over in the garden? … I hate those last scenes. Hate them.”

The second half focused heavily on Stewart’s 2003 indictment for insider trading, and the conviction and five months in jail that followed, with Stewart telling The New York Times in 2024, “The trial and the actual incarceration was less than two years out of an 83-year life.”

More recently, Stewart has been discussing what she looks for in a man. She told Page Six last month that her homemaking skills make her a “catch,” while she told PEOPLE last month what she likes in a potential partner for herself. “Lots of things,” she began. “Nice-looking, bald or not bald — I don’t care. If they have a nice-shaped head, it’s fine.”

“Rich helps,” she then joked. “Very rich helps even more. Plane and yacht would be very nice.”
