JAKARTA – After testing the redesign of Now Playing since November 2025, YouTube Music has finally launched a new look for the feature on a wide scale. This update is available on the Android and iOS apps.
In this update, YouTube Music introduces a two-panel system that allows users to see album covers and the next playlist simultaneously. In addition, the ‘Song’ and ‘Video’ mode switches above the album cover have also changed.
Previously, users would see the description of the mode clearly, they will now only see a simple icon that looks more modern. The size of the album cover image is also made a little bigger to provide a better visual experience.
The next change is seen in the song progress bar which is now thicker than before. This indicator line will thicken automatically when the user taps or swipes the duration of the song to search for a specific part.
Next, the bottom layout containing the song queue can now be accessed by simply swiping the screen up. Later, the Now Playing view will take up half the screen and the Up Next list will appear at the bottom.
The Lyrics feature is also now moved next to the thumbs icon, while the ‘Related’ menu can be accessed via the song title. This adjustment is to simplify the main interface so that it does not look too dense or cluttered.
This latest design is already available in the 9.14 version of the application for Android and 9.15 for iOS devices worldwide. This feature is launched through a server update so users are advised to force stop and reopen the application to trigger the new display.
