The Duchess of Sussex has launched two new products for Mother’s Day in honour of her young children, with a nod to their royal titles and red hair

Meghan Markle has released two new products as part of her As Ever Mother’s Day collection, inspired by her young children. The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand has released two candles inspired by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with a nod to their royal titles.

Available for sale from Wednesday, the limited edition new releases will include Signature Candle No. 506, referencing Prince Archie of Sussex’s birthdate of May 6, and Signature Candle No. 604: an homage to Princess Lilibet’s June 4 birthday. The launch is also part of As Ever’s shift into “’expanded fragrance and apothecary offerings”, adding to her growing collection of candles.

In what appears to be a nod to her six-year-old son’s striking red hair, Meghan’s 506 candle features the scent of ginger, neroli, and cashmere and promises to bring a “warm, comforting scent” for a “soft, familiar ease into the room”.

Meanwhile, the candle inspired by her daughter Lilibet, four, is made with amber, water lily and santal, encompassing a “light, floral scent” which will bring “a sense of brightness and openness to the home”. Both candles will retail for £47 each.

Meghan spoke with Town & Country magazine ahead of the launch, explaining how her humble lifestyle brand has evolved from their signature jam making to a one-stop shop for all things homeware.

Meghan told the publication: “The goal for As ever has always been finding ways we can bring beauty and ease to your life – as a host, as a guest, as a friend, as a mum.”

“In whatever way you show up, I want As ever to make it feel special. It began with a pot of jam, and a collection for your kitchen and now we are excited that the collection will soon expand into other parts of your home. It’s a very special time and I’m proud of what we are creating.”

In the descriptions of the products, Meghan writes how the names and scents are inspired by her children, writing their full royal titles “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex”.

In 2024, it was revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan adopted the Sussex title as a surname for their children as they ‘unify’ their family, making the children known as Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex, rather than Mountbatten-Windsor.

While Meghan’s fans online reacted warmly to the announcement of the Mother’s Day collection, critics were quick to flock to the comments to call out the Duchess of Sussex for using her children’s full royal titles, given Harry and Meghan quit their roles in the Firm six years ago.

Others also wondered why Meghan would be using her children’s names and titles in such a public way when she has often spoken about her desire to keep them out of the spotlight and shields their faces in social media posts.

Meghan’s previous candle release also honoured another special part of her life: her wedding day. Released as part of last year’s Christmas collection and inspired by Harry and Meghan’s wedding day in 2018, the candle was called 519, in reference to their May 19 nuptials, and featured fragrances of Moroccan mint and white tea notes.
