Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reportedly rebuffed by the Irwin family during their visit to Australia last week, according to claims made Down Under.
The couple traveled to Australia last week, with Meghan and Harry each undertaking a series of separate and solo engagements. Meghan also made an appearance at the opening day of the Her Best Life podcast retreat on Friday.
The Irwin family have joined the royals for numerous engagements over the past decade, including an appearance with King Charles back in 2018.
Robert, son of the late Steve Irwin, also traveled to South Africa to show support for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize in 2024 in his capacity as ambassador for the award.
According to an Australian weekly women’s magazine, while the Irwins harbor “no ill-will” toward Meghan and Harry, it simply “wasn’t possible” to meet with them during their four-day tour of Australia last week.
Speaking to New Idea magazine, an insider revealed, “Aligning with the Irwins’ worthy causes is something that Meghan and Harry could be on board with.”
They continued, “They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm.”
The source further noted that Robert shares a particularly close bond with William and was reluctant to cause any friction by appearing to align himself with Meghan. Meghan and Harry have since returned to their children, six year old Prince Archie and four year old Princess Lilibet, at their California home.
The pair last visited Australia in 2018, just five months following their Windsor wedding.
