April 2026 – MyMama Entertainment welcomes director Sandra Winther to its roster of directors. A Danish filmmaker based in New York, she crafts a visual language marked by sensory richness, emotional depth, and cinematic originality.

By blending the intimacy of documentary with the craft of storytelling, she creates films that are simultaneously visceral and lyrical, rooted in real human experiences and elevated by a bold visual imagination.

Sandra has directed films for some of the brands that most shape global culture, including Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Beats by Dre (Beats Electronics), Toyota, Samsung, Puma, Disney, Maybelline, Danone, and the NBA, among others. Her work has been developed in collaboration with agencies and networks such as Omnicom, BBDO, Havas, AKQA, PMG (one of the world’s largest independent digital marketing and data strategy agencies), and Schats und Stoeber (a Vienna-based boutique creative agency and production company). She has also created projects for Vogue, The New York Times, Nowness, V Magazine, and MTV.

With a distinctive ability to blend documentary intimacy with narrative craft, Sandra creates films that are at once visceral and lyrical, grounded in real human experiences yet elevated by a bold visual imagination. Each of her films carries a strong and singular vision. Drawing from her athletic upbringing and deep connection to the ocean, she brings a natural sense of movement, rhythm, and physicality to her work, always pursuing something honest, original, and unmistakably alive.

Growing up as an athlete gave Sandra an instinct for rhythm and energy, while her curiosity about the natural world draws her to stories shaped by the environments people inhabit. “I’m driven by a deep curiosity about people, what moves them, and what they are searching for, and by transforming that into sensitive, cinematic imagery. I have a strong interest in Brazil and have fallen in love with the country; it’s a place where I want to be, experience, and film more and more. I’m particularly interested in how environments shape people and the stories they carry,” says the director. This emotional honesty, combined with a desire to pursue visually original work, gives her films a distinctive voice.

“With Sandra, there’s an immediate connection. Within a few hours of conversation, it became clear that there were a mutual enchantment and a rare affinity, both creative and human. It’s hard to find someone whose sensibility and perspective align so naturally with what we believe in. She’s the kind of talent you want to build with, exchange ideas with, and go through processes with—not just work with,” says Mayra Faour Auad, Founding Partner & CEO, MyMama Entertainment.

In cinema, Sandra directed the feature documentary Lowland Kids (2019), which was selected for the Generation section at the Berlinale, where it received the Youth Jury Award and an Honorable Mention. The film was produced by the company founded by acclaimed director and screenwriter Darren Aronofsky (The Whale, Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream). Lowland Kids follows the last two teenagers living on Isle de Jean Charles in Louisiana, USA, and had its world premiere at CPH:DOX. Since then, it has screened at major festivals worldwide, including IDFA, DOC NYC, Sheffield DocFest, Deauville, and the Sydney Film Festival. Its theatrical release is scheduled for 2026. The project originated from Sandra’s award-winning short film of the same name, which premiered at SXSW and won the Audience Award at Palm Springs ShortFest.

Her documentary A New Wave, a portrait of South African surfer Mikey February and his father, was released as a New York Times Op-Doc in 2024. She is currently developing several narrative projects exploring themes of identity, coming of age, and femininity.

Sandra Winther has received awards at festivals such as the Clio Awards, The One Club, 1.4 Awards, True Award, and the Nowness Award (Emerging Artist). She has also been nominated for the Cinema Eye Honors, shortlisted at the Young Director Award (YDA) at Cannes Lions, and named “Filmmaker of the Future” at the Rhode Island Film Festival.

Whether in advertising or entertainment, her work is defined by a strong sensory quality and a deep connection to the body, movement, and natural elements. Whether filming surfers, teenagers, or communities undergoing transformation, her camera gravitates toward the physical and the intimate.

“As Sandra herself has said, I see her work within a more sensory spectrum, but also as emotional and intense. The humanity of the characters she portrays emerges through her images. I also see a strong affinity: her work reflects, in many ways, the identity and ambitions of MyMama,” adds André Pinho, Head of Advertising and Executive Producer at MyMama Entertainment.

In addition to Sandra Winther, MyMama Entertainment’s roster of directors includes Juh Almeida, the duo Kid Burro, Lili Fialho, Quinto, Ricardo Souza, Roguan, Roma Joana, and Urso Morto.
