York County weekend events include music, car and train events

Classic Lincoln Highway neon signs restored and lit at the Ag museum

Two classic, mid-century neon roadside signs are restored and lit at York’s Agricultural & Industrial Museum, open Fridays and Saturdays 10-4.

  • Events include concerts, the world’s largest model train show, and a classic car cruise night.

If you are a music, train or a car enthusiast, there’s lots to do in York County this weekend.

You may have to dodge some raindrops as you go to your weekend activity. According to the National Weather Service in State College, there is a chance of rain on Friday with a high of 71 and a low of 49. Saturday, there is a chance of rain with a high of 55 and a low of 45. Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, with a high of 61 and a low of 43.

Here is a look at a few things happening this weekend:

Walter Trout in Concert – 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25, Capitol Theatre at the Appell Center, 50 N. George St. – Blues and rock guitarist Walter Trout brings his longtime touring band to downtown York for a night of high‑energy electric blues at the historic Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $39. York Train Meet (Public Days) – Friday, April 24, 9 a.m.– 4p.m.; Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m.– 4 p.m., York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave. – Known as the world’s largest model train show, the Eastern Division TCA Train Meet welcomes the public Friday and Saturday with thousands of tables of model trains, accessories and memorabilia. Visit the York State Fair site at www.yorkstatefair.com for more information.

JA Global Tasting – 7-10 p.m., Saturday, April 25, Junior Achievement BizTown, 610 S. George St. – Junior Achievement of Southcentral Pa. hosts its signature global tasting fundraiser featuring food, drinks and cultural experiences from around the world. 

ENCORE: York County Musical Theatre Showcase – 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26, Pullo Family Performing Arts Center, 1031 Edgecomb Ave. – High school performers from across York County take center stage in a juried musical theater showcase featuring group numbers and standout student performances. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at https://pullocenter.york.psu.edu/encore/.

Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas Concert – 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, 925 S. George St. – Fiddler Alasdair Fraser and cellist Natalie Haas blend Scottish tradition and contemporary folk in an intimate concert setting. General admission tickets are $32 and can be found at https://alasdairandnatalie.com/tour-dates.  

Quirky York Walking Tour – 1 p.m., Saturday, April 25 – Begins at White Rose Bar & Grill, 48 N. George St. – A guided walking tour highlighting odd history, unusual architecture and lesser‑known stories from York’s past. The cost of the tour is $28.52. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/quirky-york-walking-tour-tickets-1983814738285. 

Cruise Night at the Markets at Shrewsbury – 4–7 p.m., Friday, April 24, Markets at Shrewsbury, 25 N. Main St., Shrewsbury – Classic cars, food vendors and live music fill Main Street as part of the borough’s monthly spring cruise night series. There is a $2 cover charge for the event.
