Prince Harry Will ‘Always Be Part of the Royal Family’

He may no longer have official royal duties, but that hasn’t changed Prince Harry’s position in the family. He recently discussed that topic. The father of two insisted that although he doesn’t represent the royals in an official capacity, he “will always be part of the royal family.”

Harry and Meghan Markle relocated to the United States in 2020. The Prince has generated a lot of controversy for what he’s said since leaving, blasting many with whom he grew up. Much of that was detailed in his 2023 memoir Spare.

Once a royal, always a royal. Official or not, that appears to be Prince Harry’s current thought about his place in the royal family. In an interview with ITV, he was asked if he recognized the phrase “not a working royal.” He replied that he’d always be a member of the family. Harry went on to say, “I am here working doing the things that I was born to do.” The Prince adds that he couldn’t be happier to be able to go on trips and appear at events while supporting numerous causes.

He made these recent comments after joining the humanitarian landmine clearance organization HALO. They explore digital demining technology near Bucha. In January 2020, the Prince and Meghan said they wanted to carve out a new role within the family. That said, they returned to senior roles but continued to support the royals.

Harry’s claims may come as a shock to some, given the bad blood reported in his family. He and his brother Prince William have been estranged since the former called out him and his wife Kate Middleton out in his book. While it’s been years since Spare was released as of September, there are still tensions between the brothers, according to sources.

While Harry has, by all accounts, not spoken to his brother since the book, it seems he’s patched things up with others. Last year, he met with his father, King Charles, with the pair reportedly reconciling.
