Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton’s romance has come under fire just days after the pair went Instagram official.
The reality star, 45, and the Formula 1 driver, 41, have known each other for years, first being linked back in 2014. But romance rumors between the pair only began to swirl earlier this year after they were spotted spending time together in Europe, including a trip to Paris and a private UK getaway. In February, Kim and Lewis were also seen together at major events such as the Super Bowl.
More recently, things appeared to heat up between the pair when they were seen kissing during a surf trip in Malibu. However, a source has criticized the relationship as a “showmance,” claiming the pair are carefully managing their public image.

They told The Daily Mail, “If Kim is pictured by them, it’s almost always on purpose. You could not get more well-versed in creating a very specific public image than Kim.”
Adding, “But she’s playing an amateur game here: this is a textbook showmance with Lewis. It’s farcical.” It has also been claimed that the pair’s recent shopping trip was staged, with the insider suggesting it was a “PR stunt” designed to fuel speculation about their relationship.
“It’s a blatant set up. But Kim knows what she’s doing. ‘Kim and Lewis interiors shopping?’ It’s an easy link to ‘They are moving in together’ and the interest in them as a couple is fuelled for another week,” the insider added.
They went on to say, “If Kim wanted a rug, she would have the very best retailers coming to her house where she could pick one from the comfort of her sofa.”
They also pointed to the fact that the couple are often photographed by the same agency, Backgrid, suggesting their outings may be carefully managed. In the industry, it is often believed that images taken by the LA-based agency can indicate staged or tipped-off celebrity appearances.
The week before, Kardashian had already “hard launched” the Ferrari driver on Instagram by sharing a snap of herself sitting on his lap at the Coachella music festival. Although his face wasn’t visible, she gave fans a hint by showing his tattooed hand.
It also comes amid news that Kim Kardashian could likely be mentioning her beau on the latest season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but Hamilton won’t be making a cameo on the show, according to sources. A source close to the couple told The Sun US, “Lewis prefers to keep their relationship low key — much like Kylie’s boyfriend Timothee Chalamet, who has no interest in having a starring role.”
“Kim and Lewis dated for a couple of months before their relationship came to light and although they are being more public now, Lewis doesn’t want to become a breakout star of that show.” They added, “Naturally, Kim will have to allude to their relationship.”
