Ray Kinman never set out to become a Disney Imagineering legend. In this short documentary, the self-taught woodcarver reflects on the unlikely path that led him from a broke young father with no formal training, no tools, and no clear plan to carving work for some of Disneyland’s most iconic attractions. What began with a lie to land his very first sign job slowly became a life built through repetition, instinct, mistakes, and decades of persistence.
This film is about more than craft. As Ray looks back on a career shaped by discipline, burnout, reinvention, and hard-won freedom, the story becomes a deeper meditation on creativity, purpose, and the cost of building a life outside the usual mold.
