Things to do in Pensacola: Fiesta Pensacola 10K & 5K; Alice Cooper

Seven days out is your guide to entertainment events, concerts, festivals and activities in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

MONDAY

Roaring 1920s Murder Mystery Show

5 p.m. April 27. Mathieson Brewing Company, 500 E. Heinberg St. Set in a 1920’s Speakeasy, an artifact has been brought in to be appraised from the excavation of King Tut’s tomb, but does his curse follow? Between murder, the mafia, moonshining, mystics, and the supernatural, this mystery will take everything the detective and you has to solve the case. Written and directed by Clayton Habecker. Jazz in the Quarter

5:30 p.m., doors; 6:30 p.m., show; April 27. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St.  Jazz Pensacola’s April Jazz in the Quarter features college and university student musicians. The evening presents the Northwest Florida State College Jazz Ensemble directed by Fred Domulot, the Pensacola State College Jazz Band directed by Doug Holsworth, and the University of West Florida Jazz Band directed by Joseph Spaniola. $12 each for Jazz Pensacola members and guests, $15 for non-members, free for students with ID and military in Uniform. Monday Night Blues

7 p.m. April 27. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Seville Quarter and the Blues Society of Northwest Florida are bringing the “blues” back to the Seville Quarter Entertainment District. TUESDAY

Bands on the Beach

7 p.m. April 28. Gulfside Pavilion at Casino Beach, Pensacola Beach. Bands on the Beach is Pensacola Beach’s popular outdoor summer concert series with performers for every musical taste. Featuring a lineup of regional artists, the series delivers an eclectic musical experience throughout the entire summer. This week features Chase Mitchell. One Night of Queen: A Tribute Performed by Gary Mullen & The Works

7:30 p.m. April 28. Saenger Theatre, 118 S. Palafox St. For over 20 years, Gary Mullen & The Works have been performing their world-renowned One Night of Queen live concert. The show features Mullen on vocals, David Brockett on guitar, Malcolm Gentles on keyboards, Jon Halliwell on drums and Alan McGeoch on bass guitar. The band will have attendees dancing in the aisles as they present the theatrics, showmanship, and music of arguably the greatest rock band of all time, Queen. U.S. Girls

6 p.m. April 29. The Handlebar, 319 N. Tarragona St. U.S. Girls will perform live in concert featuring Tirra Lirra. More info: thehandlebar850.com.

THURSDAY

Germany’s Great Bavarian Circus

April 30 through May 10. Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 Mobile Highway. Founded by Max and Monika Spindler, Germany’s Great Bavarian Circus is now proudly carried forward by their children and the newest generation of young performers. Every show is a true family affair, blending decades of circus mastery with the authentic warmth and spirit of Bavaria. More info: greatbavariancircus.com.

St. Christopher’s Concerts

6 p.m. April 30. St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 3200 N. 12th Ave. Christopher’s Concerts is an annual concert series bringing live music to the community in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. The series features a diverse lineup of talented bands performing a variety of musical styles. Attendees may bring their own food and beverage and food will be available for purchase on site. Sqwerv

7 p.m. April 30. The Handlebar, 319 N. Tarragona St. Sqwerv will perform live in concert with Cavae Mundi and Bangarang Peter. More info: thehandlebar850.com.

The Sugar Witch

7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 24 through May 3. Pensacola Little Theatre, 400 S. Jefferson St. In the moss-draped swamps of the Florida panhandle, magic, mystery, and family curses simmer beneath the surface in The Sugar Witch by Nathan Sanders. Young Annabelle is the last of the Nettles family — haunted by a dark legacy and watched over by the enigmatic Sugar Witch, a woman with ties to ancient folk magic. As love, death, and secrets converge on the Nettles’s property, old wounds are reopened, and fates entwined in this Southern Gothic tale rich with atmosphere, heartache, and haunting beauty. $25. FRIDAY

Hot Glass Cold Brew: May Day

5 p.m. May 1. First City Art Center, 1060 N. Guillemard St. Dance around the Maypole with First City Art Center for Hot Glass Cold Brew: May Day. Entertainment for the evening includes glass blowing and pottery demonstrations, a local art market, live music, kids activities, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their appetite as they will find some of Pensacola’s favorite food trucks serving up tasty fare. Full admission ($25 members/$35 non-members) includes a handmade artisan glass or ceramic cup, entertainment for the evening, and two complimentary craft beers (or wine) for adults age 21 and older from Pensacola Bay Brewery. CLUTCH: Suffer No Evil US Tour

6:30 p.m., doors; 7:30 p.m., show; May 1. Vinyl Music Hall, 2 S. Palafox St. CLUTCH shares more in common with The Grateful Dead, Rush, and the Allman Brothers than their heavy riffs and heady twists-of-phrase might suggest. Because like those bands, the supporters who adore CLUTCH are there for the experience, community, and authentic connection. To love CLUTCH is to feel a sense of ownership, membership, and belonging. Fiesta Pensacola 10K & 5K

7 a.m. May 2. The Pensacola Fiesta 10k & 5k, a Pensacola Runners Association Event, is the premier heritage road race in Northwest Florida and the perfect way to close out your Spring racing season. The event features fast and beautiful 10k and 5k races winding through the heart of Pensacola. Race options: the Fiesta 10K starts at Pensacola State College and finishes at Seville Quarter. Cinco de Mayo Party

1 p.m. May 2. Coastal County Brewing, 3041 E. Olive Road. Shake those maracas on over to Coastal County and prepare to Fiesta like there’s no mañana. Organizers are taking favorite Mexican party staples and giving them a Coastal County makeover. Experience Margarita-inspired brews, ciders, sours, and seltzers in addition to the fan-favorite Mexican Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout and ‘Pickle-ada’ Bloody Mary Sour. Theresa Caputo Live: The Experience

7:30 p.m. May 2. Saenger Theatre, 118 S. Palafox St. Theresa Caputo has been a practicing medium for over 20 years and tours the country with her live show, “Theresa Caputo Live” The Experience.” Caputo has written four books, “There’s More to Life than This: Healing Messages, Remarkable Stories, and Insight from the Other Side,” which debuted at No. 2 on the New York Times best seller list, “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up: Life Changing Lessons from Heaven,” N.Y. For Fear Itself

6 p.m. May 3. The Handlebar, 319 N. Tarragona St. For Fear Itself will perform live in concert with In Your Grave, Taken For Granted, Split, and Blindfold Knife Fight. More info: thehandlebar850.com.

Alice Cooper – Alice’s Attic Tour

7 p.m., doors; 8 p.m., show; May 3. Pensacola Bay Center, 201 E. Gregory St. Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. With his influence on rock & roll and popular culture long since acknowledged, there is little that Alice Cooper hasn’t achieved in his remarkable career, including platinum albums, sold-out tours and any number of honors and career achievement awards.
