Drake is gearing up to release his highly anticipated new studio album, Iceman, and the promo for the record involves a giant ice structure in Toronto that he says will unveil the release date.
On Monday, April 20, Drake shared a post on Instagram telling his fans to visit some coordinates in his hometown of Toronto. “Release date inside,” he teased alongside a Google Maps link to the exact coordinates. At the location, there’s a giant ice structure, which will presumably reveal the release date for Iceman when it melts. Drake first teased the project all the way back in August 2024, and now that it’s finally on the horizon, he’s keeping fans on their toes.
So when can we expect the ice to melt? Forecasts would indicate that it could take anywhere from five to ten days from the first day the structure was revealed in Toronto, although it’s expected that the release date could be visible as early as the end of this week. Complex prompted several large language models, which all agreed that the ice will melt within the next two weeks.
Pitchfork also spoke with an expert to determine a potential timeline for when the ice will fully melt and reveal the Iceman release date. University of Toronto Professor Valentin Crépel, a theoretical quantum physicist, said that, if the structure were fully solid, it would weigh roughly 350 tons.
“In practice, the structure is almost certainly partially hollow—either deliberately, or because of voids between stacked blocks—so the true mass is lower. Even so, it is almost certainly above 200 tons,” he said. “Estimating the melt time for a structure like this is inherently uncertain.” He ultimately predicted that it could remain for at least two weeks.
