Megan Thee Stallion appeared emotional during a Moulin Rouge performance in New York on Saturday night, just hours after publicly confirming her breakup with NBA’s Klay Thompson
Megan Thee Stallion appeared to fight back tears while performing in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musica at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City on Saturday night, shortly after revealing she had ended her relationship with NBA star Klay Thompson.
The Houston rapper, 31, took the stage on April 25 as scheduled, but toward the end of the performance, when the audience erupted in applause, she appeared visibly overwhelmed. Video shared online shows Megan pausing briefly mid-performance, seemingly emotional as she gathered herself before continuing through the final moments of the Broadway show. Despite the moment, she completed the number and received loud applause from the audience.
The timing of the emotional moment came just hours after Megan confirmed the end of her relationship with Thompson, 36. Through her representative, she issued a statement explaining her decision. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” she wrote in the explosive social media post.

She has not publicly gone into full detail about what led to the breakup, but she appeared to reference infidelity in a post shared to her Instagram on Saturday, April 25.
In that post, she wrote, “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house…got ‘cold feet.’”
In the same series of posts, she continued expressing frustration over the relationship, writing, “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’????” She added, “I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall”
Later, Megan addressed the split again more formally in a statement shared with USA TODAY, confirming the breakup directly.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she wrote in a statement shared with USA TODAY.
“Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Thompson, a player for the Dallas Mavericks, and Megan first went public with their relationship last July after months of speculation.
The couple made their red carpet debut on July 16 at Megan’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City. At the time, Megan spoke positively about the relationship.
She told People magazine, “I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie that [Thompson is] the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”
“I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me,” she added.
