Interview: Loess Hills Drops Brand New Song 'Tennessee Wild'

Country group Loess Hills is back with brand-new music, and fans are already loving it. They even came into the studio for an interview to share some behind-the-scenes adventures.

The band just released their newest single, “Tennessee Wild,” which dropped on April 21, 2026. While Loess Hills is known for upbeat, fun tracks, “Tennessee Wild” has a more personal side. Singer Alex Fishbach shared during the interview (below) that the chorus of the song was written about his wife and their relationship. This gives the song a little more heart than listeners might expect.

Loess Hills Stopped by the US104.9 Studio

Two members of the group, Tanner Skiff and Alex Fischbach, stopped by the US104.9 studio to talk all about the new release, the music video, and some of the stories fans didn’t get to see on screen.

During the interview, they shared how they tracked down the phone booth used in the video, the personal meaning behind the song, and one very funny mistake involving Tanner’s phone contact list.

If You Don’t Know Loess Hills Yet—Here’s Why You Should

Loess Hills has quickly become one of the most talked-about country groups in the Midwest.

The group is made up of Alex Fischbach, Tanner Skiff, Ro Pesci, Travis Ray, and Jose Rodriguez. Since forming in late 2024, they’ve built a strong following by blending country music with hip-hop, rock, blues, and pop influences, creating a sound they jokingly call “Funtry.”

That momentum helped them earn Best Original Band in Iowa at the 2025 Iowa Music Awards, and they’ve continued building that buzz with songs like “My Kind of Party” and now “Tennessee Wild.”

Some Behind-the-Scenes of “Tennessee Wild”

In the first few scenes of the music video, there is a phone booth.

The guys explained that getting the phone booth for the video turned into a full-on adventure, attempting to unbolt it from the ground and move it without breaking the glass. What seemed like a small prop became one of the biggest missions of the shoot.

Listen to the interview (above) to hear how they got the phone booth to be a success.

The Funniest Part? The Secret “Babe”

Possibly the best story from the interview came from one simple music video detail.

For one scene, they needed it to look like the “lover girl” of the video was calling Alex’s phone. Their solution? Use Tanner’s phone as the prop, change Alex’s contact name to “babe,” and change the photo to show the “lover girl.”

Problem solved.

Except… Tanner forgot to change it back.

So later, when Alex called Tanner in real life, his phone lit up with “Babe” and a blond girl on the screen, which created some confusion and a lot of laughs. Alex said in the interview, “Let me know when you are next to your wife so I can call you, haha.”

Check Out Loess Hills

Between heartfelt lyrics, silly behind-the-scenes moments, and another catchy release, “Tennessee Wild” proves Loess Hills keeps finding new ways to keep fans entertained.
