The Royal Family have been hit by a damning blow as a new poll has revealed what Britons really think of how they handled Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s arrest earlier this year. The 66-year-old has seen his reputation in tatters over his connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
He then added: “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.
As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.’
Fans were asked in a poll conducted by Ipsos whether the royals handled his arrest well, neither badly or well or very badly.
The shock results show that, looking back at when allegations were first brought against him, just 28 per cent said they had handled it well. This then increased to a still low score of 38 per cent.
The damming result shows an increase of just 10 per cent, with an additional 27 per cent voted that it was handled ‘neither good nor bad’ – and 26 per cent voted ‘badly’.
Following his eviction from Royal Lodge, Andrew now resides on the King’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
After seven months in hiding, Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who lived with him at Royal Lodge, was pictured in Austria earlier this month.
