Donald Trump has taken to social media claiming he has “always wanted to live in Buckingham Palace”, after reports emerged this morning stating he was actually related to King Charles III.

The President said he will discuss the reports with King Charles and Queen Camilla “in a few minutes”, when they meet for Day Two of the trip.

The King is set to begin his second round of engagements during the four-day State Visit to the US, where he has appeared relaxed and jovial so far.

The President, who also appeared in high spirits, has long expressed his admiration for His Majesty, describing him as “brave” and “a friend”.

The pair shared a thorough handshake when meeting on the White House South Lawn yesterday, before Mr Trump gently put his arm on the monarch’s shoulder in a small break of royal protocol – a signal that is thought to express the pair’s friendship, though.

Now, the President appears to have taken the relationship to the next level by claiming he has “always wanted to live at Buckingham Palace”.

The Truth Social post included an excerpt from a newspaper detailing the President’s blood relation to His Majesty.

A report from the Daily Mail this morning established that President Trump and the British monarch could actually be 15th cousins, sharing a common ancestor in the third Earl of Lennox.

“Wow, that’s nice. I’ve always wanted to live in Buckingham Palace!!!” the President wrote.

TRUTH SOCIAL: DONALD TRUMP

The Earl of Lennox was a great-grandson of King James II of Scotland, placing both the President and the King within the same aristocratic bloodline.

The lineage traces through Lord Lennox’s daughter, Lady Helen, then Lady Jane, who subsequently married into the Clan Mackay.

From this came Donald Mackay, and the ancestral line then passed through successive generations of Mackays before continuing through the MacLeod family.

This Scottish heritage ultimately led to Mary Anne MacLeod of Lewis, who emigrated to America in 1930 and married property developer Fred Trump. Their fourth child, Donald, was born in 1946.

Speaking on social media, the President added: “I’ll talk to the King and Queen about this in a few minutes!!!”

Undoubtedly, President Trump will be able to share the news shortly as today marks Day Two of a busy four-day visit for the quartet.

The morning begins with a Ceremonial Welcome with both the President and the First Lady at the White House.

Following that, King Charles will join a bilateral meeting with the President, while Mrs Trump will embark on a separate engagement with Queen Camilla.

Then, His Majesty will address a Joint Meeting of Congress, where he will speak of the “reconciliation and renewal” that characterises the long history between Britain and America.

He will become only the second British monarch to address a joint meeting, following Queen Elizabeth II’s speech in 1991.

The King is said to have personally worked on his Congress speech incessantly and, according to Politico, could speak for up to 30 minutes – far surpassing the 12-minute speech performed by the late Queen.

Finally, the group will enjoy a State Dinner, where King Charles will also speak.
