Speaking with the Indian Link Podcast, Minister Tony Burke talked about how much he loves Bollywood, especially Shah Rukh Khan. There are many movies that have left their mark globally and for someone who is such a fan, Burke had his fair share of films to praise. However, the one actor who has him cheering is the King Khan.
“I am a big Shah Rukh Khan fan, so let me start with that,” he said.
He also admitted that Om Shanti Om is his “favourite movie of all time.” In fact, he loves Bollywood so much that in all the cricket matches where he roots for Australia, it was Lagaan that had him cheering for the country in a way he never imagined.
From Jodha Akbar to other big films, they helped him through times that were both happy and tough. However, the Farah Khan film had an especially special impact on him. One dialogue in particular became his saving grace.
“Simple happy endings… if it’s not happy, it’s not the end, the story is not over yet.”
His life hadn’t been smooth, and Om’s one dialogue helped him through. Apart from that, the one film he loves is Chak De! India. This has a lot to do with the fact that it was shot in Australia, using locations like Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
