From events empowering women and identity to live music performances, here are five things to do in Laredo this weekend worth leaving the house for.

International Female Ride Day

Saturday, 8 a.m., Laredo Harley-Davidson, 418 Crossroads St.

This weekend, Laredo Harley-Davidson is inviting women bikers and allies to unite in sisterhood across Laredo, Zapata and Hebronville for a multicity route. The route will travel from Laredo to Zapata to Hebronville and then to downtown Laredo at the No Dejes De Sonar Wall before circling back to Laredo Harley-Davidson for the event’s finish.

Walk & Talk: No Book, Book Club

Saturday, 9 a.m., North Central Park, 10202 International Blvd.

Phoenix Rising is hosting a walk at North Central Park where residents can drop off books they’ve finished or would like to give a second home to at the Little Library before heading out on a walk to track steps, connect with others and stay motivated.

To track steps and progress, attendees can also join the StepUp app group by scanning the attached QR code.

Paint a Keepsake for Mom at McCoy’s

Saturday, 10 a.m., McCoy’s Building Supply, 3809 E. Saunders St.

Parents are invited to bring their children to the latest session of McCoy’s Kids, where they can paint wooden flowers or terracotta pots just in time for Mother’s Day for their mom or mother figure. The event is free and available while supplies last. No registration is required.

Rock Night at Wizard Wicks

Saturday, 9 p.m., Wizard Wicks Pizza, 2701 N. Meadow Ave.

Bands such as Rockits Band, Third Degree, Jesse Sandoval and Carlos Lucca Imperial will bring the sounds of rock during a live performance at Wizard Wicks’ Rock Night.

Queer Crafting at Los Olvidados

Sunday, 3-5 p.m., Los Olvidados, 309 Flores Ave.

The Laredo Sapphic Circle is inviting queer women and nonbinary people to join for an afternoon of casual crafting and junk journaling. Activities also include nametag making and an introduction circle.

All crafts are welcome, and attendees are invited to bring their own items; however, supplies will also be available on-site.
