An East Texas man who is nonverbal with autism is celebrating the latest music release from fellow East Texan Kacey Musgraves.
Odin Frost, of Tyler, who has autism, cerebral palsy and apraxia, has been able to find his voice through music, and Musgraves, a Golden native, is “one of his favorite humans and songwriters,” an Instagram post from the Frost family reads.
The post says that Musgraves’ music helps Odin with anxiety and meltdowns since he was a kid.
Musgraves’ seventh studio album, “Middle of Nowhere,” was released on Friday, May 1, featuring references to East Texas, including the album title and title track, which was inspired from a sign at the Golden Sweet Potato Festival fairgrounds that reads “Golden, Texas: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere.”
“He was so proud to show off her new album (Middle Of Nowhere) this morning. He used gift cards he had been holding onto for years to order this and support his friend,” the Frost family post read. “This album feels like nostalgia and new places all at once. We are grateful for the magic of music.♥️”
Musgraves herself left a comment with a heart and longhorn emoji, a nod to her album cover that features her with a longhorn.
The Frost family’s Instagram post is a public platform centered on joy, inclusion and disability awareness. It currently has 125,000 followers.
The post concludes by saying that moments of joy are worth celebrating and “love always wins.”
