A former friend of Sarah Ferguson has revealed the one thing she believes the ex-Duchess of York must do to help restore her reputation and make a comeback. The 66-year-old has been keeping a low profile amid the fallout from the Epstein files.
Now Lizzie Cundy urged her former friend Fergie to do an interview, saying “people need to hear the truth”.
Speaking to Best Magazine’s Suddenly Single podcast, Ms Cundy said: “She’s gone underground, you can understand why, she’s trying to put her life back together.
“Look, they’ve [Sarah and Andrew] lost their home, they’ve lost their work, they’ve lost their charities, they’ve lost their reputation.”
She added: “Fergie was queen of comebacks and reinventing herself, you know, what’s she going to do next?
“I really think she should do an interview and tell the truth, just have some clarity and truth, I think that’s a way back, people need to hear the truth.
“She’s done the Oprah show, she’s done books. She’s had a lot of scandals in the past, but this is something else and I think it’s really important that the public hear it from her.”
The Epstein files appear to show exchanges between Sarah and Epstein after the late financier was convicted in 2008 for prostituting minors.
In one email, Sarah appears to call Epstein “my dear spectacular and special friend”.
More than three million documents were published by the US Department of Justice earlier this year relating to Epstein.
Being named in the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing.
In a statement released in 2025, Sarah’s spokesperson said: “The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims.
“Like many people, she was taken in by his lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia.”
