As the entertainment industry evolves, actors are changing how they create content. Jaime Pressly is adapting by joining OnlyFans, aiming to take charge of her career and connect with fans. Pressly, who played Joy Turner in the sitcom My Name Is Earl, launched her OnlyFans on Thursday.
The Emmy-award-winning actress told Variety, “This is another way for me to connect directly with my audience, on my own terms, with creativity and intention.” With the OnlyFans page, Pressly will decide what content she puts out, the narrative, and the scheduling, while interacting with fans however she wants. Rather than waiting for production companies and agencies to determine when she makes television and film appearances, Pressly now has complete control over her career.
It is the fans who helped lead Pressly to this decision. Pressly told Variety, “I’ve loved meeting fans at various comic-cons and the excitement of having those real face-to-face moments made me want to seek options like OnlyFans.” Much like conventions, OnlyFans enables Pressly’s fans to seek out her content rather than waiting for her to appear in their favorite shows. Pressly has most recently had guest appearances on Elsbeth and completed an over 100-episode run as Jill Kendall on Mom in 2021.
Once a bold and shocking choice, joining OnlyFans is becoming increasingly common in Hollywood. Pressly’s friend Shannon Elizabeth, from American Pie, started her page a month earlier and earned $1.2 million in her first week. Elizabeth told People Magazine she created the page to be “closer to her fans,” much like Pressly. The platform’s success reflects how stars are, in Pressly’s words, “evolving with the times.”
OnlyFans has made a name for itself by creating paywalls for members-only content that is often explicit. However, like all other platforms, it has adapted to harbor safer for work content. From stars like Cardi B, Lily Allen, and Iggy Azalea keeping up accounts to OnlyFans being featured heavily in the Apple TV show Margo Has Money Problems, OnlyFans has become more commonplace. Pressly joining the site is just more evidence of that.
Creators Inc. CEO Andy Bachman, who helped Pressly launch the account, has great faith in what Pressly will do on the platform. He explained that “Jaime Pressly has the rare mix of mainstream star power and a real audience connection,” and insisted that “fans are going to love what she creates here.” As Hollywood continues to grow and prioritizes autonomy, fans may see more of their favorite celebrities try their hand at OnlyFans.
